daffodil, crocus, and violets for spring

There’s a part of me that thinks paper flowers are silly. That part of you can stop reading now.

The rest of me thinks they are one of the most wonderful things ever. They are so easy and fun to make. They perk things up and look fresh without dying in a few days. They are wonderfully lifelike. And who says everything has to be so serious all the time anyway?

Come by nested tomorrow and I will show you how to make 3-4 different spring blossoming flowers. I will start with the easiest and move to more difficult. When we’ve done all of them, I’ll start over for anyone who shows up late.

The cost is $15 per person, all materials provided or $20 for 2, if you bring a friend. Looking forward to seeing you.

We’ll also have ready made flowers and flower kits available in the store.

Can’t make it? We’ll be doing this class again, all season long, the flowers changing with what’s in bloom.

I am so thrilled to be showing Janet Henry’s beaded pieces in the Wee Gallery from now til the end of the year.

Janet teaches in Brooklyn but has a studio in Durham where she works on a variety of projects. My favorite are the intricately crafted and complex beaded pieces.  It is rare to see so much expressed in these material and Janet misses no opportunity to make them speak. The range and combination of beads,  in themselves interesting, are made more so by the dialogue that takes place between the shapes and colors and the minutia of the knot work. In Janet’s larger pieces, she spells out words with the beads. It really pays to spend some time looking at them closely.

Janet is a very lovely person and there will be a reception for the show during the 2nd Friday Artwalk, tonight NOVEMBER 13th, from 6-9. I hope you will come by to meet the artist and see this beautiful work.

These lunch bags are a great design with lots of good features – big flat bottom so that your lunch doesn’t get sideways and spill when you pick it up.

Insulated to keep things fresh and best of all they are eco-friendly in multiple ways. The washable canvas is Vinyl Free – always a good thing. and any time you use a reusable container, that’s awesome.

We also have matching tote bags and hats.

We are happy to add a new line of lighting to our store named Slip out of Hickory, NC. They offer a range of table lamps and pendants in a variety of colors and fabrics. The best thing about them is they offer lots of a la carte options.

What this means for you is that they are able to offer an endless range of choices. You choose the color and style of the base and the shade and they put it together for you. Anything from tween pink spots that would make the Olsen Twins proud to more calm and sedate. You name it, they can make the look you want. Come in and see their book, if you get a chance.
